Containers
Please note: The information on this page is not current, because I am no longer working at the Rose Hill Farm Stop's kitchen. The page is still up for anyone interested in my container model.
One of the things that makes No Waste Plant Based unique is that we use only reusable containers for our food. This requires a mental adjustment, since we are all used to receiving food from grocery stores and restaurants in disposable packaging. Thank you for your willingness to try something new to help our planet!
Option 1: Use your own container
Cost:
Free!
How it works:
Under each menu item's ingredient list, there is a section that says 'container.' This tells you what size and type (e.g., for liquids) of container you need for one serving of that food. When you order your meals, check the box that says you'll provide your own. Choose a suitable container and label it with your name to bring to me at the kitchen.
Due to health regulations, I can't serve food directly into containers that you bring; I have to wash and sanitize them first. When you use your own container, you'll need to drop it off at least a day in advance (during business hours). If you get dinners regularly, you won't need to make any extra trips: each time you pick up a meal, just give me another container to use next time.
Option 2: Borrow a NWPB container
Cost:
$5 deposit with a $4 refund
How it works:
Check the box on the order form that says you'll borrow containers from NWPB. Your order receipt will include a $5 fee for each container needed for your order. Pick up the food and enjoy it, then within a few days (or next time you come to pick up), bring back the empty containers in good condition. You'll get $4 back for each one you return.
These containers, made by GET Enterprises, can be microwaved in 1-minute bursts to reheat food.
